Universal Orlando Resort

Only 14 minutes to Walt Disney World

Universal Orlando Resort is made up of two theme parks, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, a water park, Volcano Bay, a night-time entertainment complex, Universal CityWalk Orlando, and five Loews Hotels.

We will talk about the two theme parks:

Universal Studios

Universal Studios Florida is consists of themed areas and attractions based on the movie industry. Visitors can enjoy themed dining and shopping and special events all year long. The themes of Universal Studios Orlando are intended to make visitors feel like they are on the set of a film, with rides, and shows, and attractions derived from popular movies, television, and music.

Many of the park’s attractions were built with the actual makers of the films, and they also feature the original stars. Steven Spielberg contributed to E.T. Adventure. The original stars reprised their film roles in many current rides, including Rip Torn and Will Smith in Men in Black: Alien Attack.

An estimated 9.6 million people passed through Universal Studios in 2015, making it the sixth most visited theme park in the United States, and the tenth most attended theme park in the world.

Islands Of Adventure

Universal’s Islands of Adventure, opened in May 1999. It is a theme park composed of seven distinct “islands” that are themed to different types of adventures.

The park’s general theme is that of exploration, where guests leave from a central port to visit themed islands, all emphasizing an adventure. Visitors begin at the Port of Entry and get on through the seven islands –

Port of Entry, the park’s principal entrance, with many shops. The Pharos Lighthouse is located here and every evening it shoots out a beam of light to steer visitors to the park’s entrance. There are no rides on this island. There are mostly shops and restaurants.

Marvel Super Hero Island, with characters from the Marvel Comics. Featuring comics-style architecture with building interiors created with amplified lines and angles. Building exteriors are re-painted in a paint that seems to change colors depending on the perspective of the viewer. There are a many diners and shops and themed shops, like a Spider-Man Shop.

Toon Lagoon, based on the comics of King Features Syndicate and Jay Ward. The island centers in on water-rides and features 3 quick lunch eateries. Toon Lagoon offers three attractions: Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls, which is based on the Dudley Do-Right character.

Skull Island, based on the movie King Kong, which was directed by Peter Jackson. Skull Island: Reign of Kong means the return of the King Kong character to Universal Orlando Resort, after the Kongfrontation show closed at Universal Studios Floridan 2002.

Jurassic Park, takes place after the events of the first film and the island simulates John Hammond’s dinosaur theme park which was portrayed in the movies. Therefore, this area is full of the attractions you would find in the “real” Jurassic Park, with more rides and exhibits.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, themed around the world of Harry Potter. The twenty-acre island offers attractions, stores and restaurants that are inside such places as the Forbidden Forest, Hogsmeade Village and the iconic Hogwarts Castle.

The Lost Continent, myths and legends themed, and is split into two other sections: an old Arabian marketplace called Sinbad’s Bazaar, and a Grecian Atlantis-like Lost City. Three main attractions that make up the Lost Continent: The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad, a live stunt show which in the ancient Arabia section. The Mystic Fountain, which entertains and mingles with guests, and the indoor, special-effects extravaganza, Poseidon’s Fury.

Seuss Landing, from the author Dr. Seuss. This island highlights Seuss-themed attractions, in particular those that are directed at small children. There is also a Green Eggs and Ham Cafe and Circus McGurkus restaurant. Just like in the books, there is not a single straight line anywhere in this area.

Universal Studios Orlando is 11 minutes to Orange County Convention Center and 19 minutes to Orlando International Airport.
